Vottovaara Mountain

In 2009 the Vottovaara Mountain, the highest of the West Karelian Elevation (417,3 m), became a new tourist object. On the mountain park there is a thousand of stones, which that was laid unusual: large tonnage stones are laid on the “legs” – small stones. Such stones are named “seidy” and attributed to the holy things of Sami. A number of researchers argue that “seidy” were created by the inhabitants of an ancient North Country – Hyperborea.

Among others mysteries of the mountain is “Stairway to Heaven”, footsteps ending by deep precipice. Superstitious people believe that the mountain is the bridge to the other world. You can try unravel all these mysteries during the 3, 6, 7-days travel tours.
