Vodlozersky National Park - water, forests and architecture

In the territory of Vodlozersky National Park there are 6 historical settlements and 23 monuments of wooden architecture.

Being the monument of federal value, Ilyinsky country churchyard of Vodlozero constructed in 1798 on a small island is a spiritual center and the major architectural object of the park. The country churchyard includes the church in the name of Ilya the Prophet and a belltower surrounded by massive log fencing. Fencing of Kizhi country churchyard has been made the same way, and in 2006 the first stage of restoration of this unique fencing was completed.

Tourist village Varishpelda where tourists can rest in guest houses is created instead of a former settlement. The equipped tourist route in the extent of 40 km begins in the village.
