Travel itinerary:

Day 1 

07:00 Arrival in Petrozavodsk. Meeting with the guide. Breakfast in the restaurant of Petrozavodsk. 

08:00 City tour around Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelia, with its major sights and a walk along the embankment of Lake Onego. Photo stop near the monument to Peter the Great. 

11:15 Transfer to Kizhi Island by hydrofoil (1 hour 15 minutes). Lunch upon arrival on Kizhi. 

14:00 Excursion in the Kizhi open-air museum of wooden architecture and cultural history. Kizhi is one of the first open-air museums and one of the most popular tourist attractions in Russia. The pearl of the museum is its world-known wooden church ensemble with the magnificent 22-dome church which is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. 

16:45 Departure for Petrozavodsk. 

18:15 Arrival in Petrozavodsk. Transfer to the hotel. Accommodation. Free time.

Day 2 

Today you will wake up early in the morning to make an unforgettable trip to Valaam Island. 

06:30 Departure for Sortavala (250 km). 

10:00 Breakfast upon arrival in Sortavala. 

11:00 Transfer to the Valaam Monastery by hydrofoil (50 minutes). 

12:00 Excursion program around the Central Monastery Complex. Today you will get acquainted with one of the main orthodox sacred places in Russia and visit its cathedral of the Transfiguration. After a walk around the monastery complex you will also visit one of the sketes and try simple monastic food during the lunch in the monastery's refectory. 

17:00 Departure to Sortavala by hydrofoil (50 minutes). Upon arrival transfer to Petrozavodsk. 20:00 A short stop in an ancient Karelian village Kinerma, which in 2016 became the most beautiful village in Russia. Nadezhda, a local resident of Kinerma Village, will meet us and show the main sights of the village, which are houses of the end of the 19th century and the wooden chapel of Virgin Mary of Smolensk erected in the 17th century. After the excursion around the village Nadezhda will invite you to her house to have dinner in a Karelian house. 

23:30 Arrival in Petrozavodsk. Free time.

Day 3 

Breakfast. Check-out. 

10:00 Transfer to the Regional History Museum. You will see the famous petroglyphs, ancient images carved on the rocks, learn about giant labyrinths of the Solovetsky Isles, and see typical Karelian clothes and household utensils. 

12:00 Lunch. Afterwards transfer to the Kivach Nature Reserve. Founded in 1932, Kivach Nature Reserve is one of the oldest in Russia. The second highest plain waterfall in Europe, waterfall Kivach, is located in the heart of the nature reserve. 

14:30 Excursion in the nature reserve. You will get acquainted with typical local flora and fauna in the nature museum and with rare plants like Karelian birch in the dendrarium. Free time to take pictures near the waterfall. 

17:00 Arrival at the railway station in Petrozavodsk.
