SledDog Race Kalevala 2011 in Karelia

Karelia hosts the SledDog Race "KALEVALA 2011"

Only sincere love of two living beings with big hearts, The Man and The Dog, has a power to conquer the icy spacious area of  Karelian taiga.

From 12 to 18 March 2011 the SledDog Race "KALEVALA 2011" for the second time will be held in the north of Karelia in the village Kalevala. Three routes were developed for explorers of snowy taiga. The distances of the routes are varied and include transit overnights in the forest guesthouses. Route №1 - 70 km; route №2 - 150 km; route №3 - 220 km.

The total distance of all routes is 440 km. All routes are circular. They start and finish from the porch of the complex "WelT – the Karelian Travel". The track’s width is 1,5-2,5 meters. The preparation and marking of routes are provided according to the requirements of the International Federation of SledDog Sports (IFSS).

The race is supported by the Administration of the national Kalevala’s district and Kalevala’s urban settlement, the State Committee of the Republic of Karelia for Sport and Tourism.
