On August 25 inhabitants and guests of ancient runе-singing village of Juškozero of Kalevala national municipal region which is over 400 years old became participants of traditional Orthodox Feast of the Assumption.
A few years ago the festival was held as an International folk festival Four Seasons in Kalevala with a view of propagation of native language and traditional culture of northern Karelians (from the White Sea coast), searching for ways to overcome social and economic problems of both the village, and Kalevala region. This festival was and remains an example of cooperation of institutes of civil society and authorities, successful implementation of sister-cities' relations within the scope of the international project of frontier cooperation between Karelia and Finland.
The festival is organized at the support of the Ministry of the Republic of Karelia on National Politics and Relations with Religious Associations. Friends of Juškozero residents from Suomussalmi commune (Finland), sister-city of Kalevala national municipal region, members of the Finland - Russia society, guests from the capital and regions of Karelia became frequent visitors of the festival.
The festival program included performances of Karelian creative teams, arts and crafts trade fair, folk open air celebrations. Traditional rowing competitions of local youth on wooden boats were of peculiar interest for the festival guests.
