On October, 28, 2007, a group of associates visited the area nearby lake Lososinnoe to check the information received from the mushroomers, who have come across unknown objects in this part of Karelia. The technical support was provided by the Autonomous Nonprofit Organization “Assistance to securing travelers”.
According to one of the mushroomers he has seen strange rings more then once nearby lake Lososinnoe.
Finally we have found 10 such structures throughout the area of about 3-4 hectares. To identify these rings in savage windfall was a real challenge. The nearest objects are situated in 2 km from the shore of lake Lososinnoe and in 1 km from the nearest road.
A general distance between the objects is from 50 to 100 m, but one of the outermost rings was found in 1 km. We couldn’t have made a plan of the structures yet as we didn’t have all required equipment.
Each object is made of two rings, external rings are from 15 to 25 m in diameter, and inner rings are from 5 to 7 m in diameter. The rings have as well 4-8 crosspieces around the circle with the width of 1 to 2 m.
Generally there is very thick vegetation throughout the area of the structures. In the center of the rings one can find a pine or a fir at the age of 150-250 years.
The depth of the ditch in the external rings begins from 50 c, in some rings it is about 1 m, the width is about 1 m. The depth of inner rings is about 20-25 c and their width is about half a meter. The majority of the rings are coved with the moss. 8 of 10 structures stand on an eminence.
The outward appearance of these structures makes it clear that they are not of the natural origin, and they appeared not less than 100 years ago.
To our great regret we were not able to find the structure, described by one of the witnesses. There must be the third inner circle with a small hillock, which height is about 70 c and diameter is about 1,5 m, in the center of this structure.
Luckily, the chopping down of trees that is in progress in the vicinity of lake Lososinnoe, has not touched this area yet. However it is possible that such structures were already destroyed in the places of aggressive chopping down of trees.
According to the words of the same witness, who is an inveterate mushroomer and has visited lots of parts of Karelia, during the last 4 or 5 yeas nearby the Lososinnoe Lake he has come across such structures more than 20 times, but never ever in other parts of Karelia.
