National culture festival passed in the village of Essoila, Pryazha region

On November 11 the village of Essoila of Pryazha metropolitan region held the national culture festival Essoila the Beautiful aimed at preservation and development of language and traditional culture of Karelian people. The festival was held under the initiative and financial support of the Ministry of the Republic of Karelia on National Politics and Relations with Religious Associations and Administration of Pryazha region.

It has become a tradition to start the festival at the Adoration Cross, then memorial plates to Miron Smirnov and Alexander Kirillov who were among the originators of creation of Karelian literature were opened.

The same day there was held a presentation of Essoila center of Karelian language and culture Livvin keskus. Primary activity of the center is directed on preservation and development of Karelian language. Within this center it is supposed to teach children and adults Karelian language, let Essoila people join traditional Karelian culture and crafts. There will pass round tables, seminars, meetings with writers and poets, scientists and craftsmen, rural festivals and sit-round gatherings. At the festival the first project of the center - Suarnat da Vuarnat children's musical performance in Karelian language based on tales of the Pryazha region native poet Pavel Lukin has been presented.

In the afternoon there passed the national book festival, literary soiree Let the Heart Talk to Heart… in which modern and beginning writers and poets have taken part.

Such festivals have become a tradition and will pass in all corners of the republic. They should become bridges to unification of everyone who loves Karelian language and traditional culture.
