On November 28 session of the Council of heads of tourist agencies was held in the Ministry of Economic Development of the Republic of Karelia.

The key issue of the agenda was consideration of the draft of General scheme of accommodation of objects and tourism infrastructure developed in 2007 by the Russian institute of Urbanistics (St.-Petersburg) together with the Institute of Economy of Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Science under the order of the Government of the Republic of Karelia.

According to the scheme for territories of the republic there has been defined 12 perspective tourist zones (Northern, White Sea, Central, Ladoga lakeside, etc.), 7 sites (in Louhi region, Ladoga lakeside and Zaonezhie) were worked out in more details for making offers to investors.

The General scheme, being the pilot project for subjects of the Russian Federation, has caused positive responses and great interest in the tourist public representatives.
