Complete overhaul of the Music Theatre in Petrozavodsk comes to an end.

In June the renovated Music Theatre of the Republic of Karelia will fling the door open to the first spectators.

On April, 10 to supervise the course of construction work in the theatre there came the Prime Minister of the Government of Karelia Pavel Chernov.

According to the schedule most of works in the theatre should be completed by builders by April 30. Another month will be spent on trial run and testing of new engineering systems.

Complete overhaul of the Music Theatre is financed from the budget of the Republic of Karelia. From the moment of its construction in 1955 the theatre has never been repaired. By 2006 the building desperately required replacement of all internal systems and mechanisms, restoration of frescos and stucco mouldings, replacement of roof, installation of new windows and doors, furnishing of facades and many other kinds of work.

Today there comes to the end the furnishing, installation of new doors and stained-glass windows, scenic equipment is being adjusted. As the Prime Minister could add the evidence, trowel workers treat art elements of internal furniture of the theatre very carefully having kept the shape usual for several generations of the townspeople, interiors of the theatre began to sprkle with fresh paint.

In some premises of the theatre repairins are already completed. For example, rehearsals have begun in the ballet hall. The troupe plans to present the first gala concert on the Day of the Republic on June 8, 2009. This season will be crowned in the end of June with the first show of Romeo and Juliet ballet. Large-scale stage scenery for the performance today are being prepared simultaneously with the theatrical stage.

Complete overhaul means lots of construction dust in the building afterwards. To bring the theatre to the working condition as fast as possible quickly, at the planning meeting chaired by the Prime Minister it was decided to hold a number of clean-ups in May there. It is planned to involve employees of some establishments of culture and republican ministries in cleaning one of the greatest public buildings of Petrozavodsk.
