The XXXVIII Sailing Regatta Onego-2009 — the Russia's Open Sailing Championship among cruiser yachts of class OPEN 800 will be held in Karelia from July 25 to August 1, 2009. It is expected, that in the regatta there will take part about 20 yachts. 14 yachts have announced their desire to participate in the regatta. 8 yachts have already come to Petrozavodsk, others are on the way.
In the OPEN800 class all crews are Russian. Perhaps, yachts of other classes will take part in the regatta. Karelia will participate with three yachts Equator, Karelia and Julia-4. The regatta participants will be announced on July 25.
The regatta will be held in the water area of Onego Lake with start and finish in Petrozavodsk. Solemn opening is expected on July 25 at 3 p.m. on the quay of Onego lake.
The Regatta is organized by the State Committee of the RK on Physical Training and Sports, the Federation of Sailing of the Republic of Karelia, the OPEN 800 class association.
The Regatta will consist of 6 races with total length making about 450 test sea miles. Distances of races, place and time of intermediate starts are on hold.
