On April 19 Prime Minister of the Government of Karelia Pavel Chernov and Consul General of Finland in Saint Petersburg Olli Perheentupa have taken part in solemn ceremony of official opening of the new Petrozavodsk Office of the Consulate General. Heads of republican authorities, territorial branches of federal departments and local self-government of Petrozavodsk have also been invited to the ceremony. Head of the Petrozavodsk Office Paula Sirkiä welcomed the visitors.
Addressing to the ceremony participants, Pavel Chernov has thanked the Consulate for its work, having noted that issuing of Finnish visas to the citizens of Karelia since the Office was established in 1993 caused significant expansion of business, cultural and friendly contacts between our republic and Suomi.
In turn, Olli Perheentupa has emphasized: "On the occasion of a new spacious building the Petrozavodsk Office of the Consulate General expects to improve its services rendered to our Karelian friends."
After the opening ceremony visitors have made a short excursion on the building. New premises make it possible to have all the things needed for work of the Office including additional workplaces for periods of excess demand on the peak of a tourist season that will allow to avoid undue delays and lines at issuing of visas.
