Awards and titles in honour of the 90th anniversary of Karelia

36 citizens of the republic have joined the ranks of labour elite of Karelia. On June 2 their honest work and great contribution to cultural, scientific, social and economic development of the republic was awarded at the highest level - Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov has handed out federal and republican awards. At the ceremony which this time coincided with the anniversary of the republic celebration was arranged in honour of the honorary freemen of Karelia and winners of The Best Labour Dynasty contest of the republic.

 

— Today is a especial day, and special are the occasion and date — anniversary of our republic. To receive the award on the eve of such holiday means to receive universal recognition and support. I thank everybody for beautiful work. I am sure that your work will bring fame both to you and to your families, and to our republic, - the Head of Karelia Sergey Katanandov has told, congratulating the laureates with the awards deserved.

Honourable citizens of Karelia were congratulated first at the solemn ceremony. Among them there were two veterans of the Great Patriotic War, front-line soldiers Feodor Karelsky and Nikolay Shkipin, labour veteran, former director of the Cascade of the Vyg hydroelectric power station Victor Rybakov, the Honoured Artist of Russia, the People's Artist of the Republic of Karelia Tamara Yufa. Head of Karelia has presented all the honorary citizens with memorable award pins and pecuniary recompenses.

Two awards at once were presented to Natalya Ruzanova, director of the regional center of new information technologies of Petrozavodsk State University. Besides the rank of the Honourable citizen of Karelia, according to the Decree of the President of Russia Natalya Ruzanova has received the Order of Honour.

For the first time in the hall of the Government celebration was arranged in honour of the winners of The Best Labour Dynasty contest of the republic held this year in honour of the anniversary of Karelia. Representatives of 12 labour dynasties of Karelia have received memorable certificates and pecuniary recompenses.

In The Oldest Dynasty nomination the first place was awarded to the Denisovs' teaching dynasty from Kostomuksha. The teaching experience of 16 members of this dynasty makes 485 years. The second place went ot the Lazarevs' teaching dynasty from Pudozh, and the third was awarded to the Sheloinikovs' dynasty of a family of railwaymen from Medvezhyegorsk.

In The Succession of Profession nomination the first place was awarded to the Saranchukovs' dynasty of postal and telecommunications workers from Petrozavodsk. The second place in the contest was awarded to the dynasty of Asalovskys, working on the railway, and the third - to the dynasty of Volodins from Kostomuksha who work on Karelsky Okatysh.

Winners in The Efficient Work nomination were the Tanaseichuks' teaching dynasty from Petrozavodsk, the Mostovs' dynasty from Prionezhsky region who have been working in Ladva logging enterprise for 105 years, and the Vilayevs' dynasty from Kondopoga whose history has begun more 50 years ago on Kondopoga pulp and paper mill.

The Shcheglovs' medical dynasty and the Matveyevs' athletic dynasty from Petrozavodsk as well as the Lokhovs' dynasty fro Byelomorsk were recognized winners in The Best Representation of Their Profession nomination.

State awards of the Russian Federation were conferred on 18 citizens of the republic. The Orders of Friendship according to the decree of the President of Russia was awarded to Natalia Vavilova, director of the Museum of Fine Arts, Anatoly Voronin, Rector of Petrozavodsk State University, and Alexander Titov, Chairman of the Karelian Research Centre of the Russian Academy of Science. Medal of the Order of Merit for the Motherland, II degree, was presented to Yadviga Pustokhod, chairlady of Petrozavodsk Disabled People's Organization Dobrota (Kindness). The awarda as high was confered on Vladimir Krylov, Professor of Karelian State Pedagogical Academy, and Lyudmila Sergina, Deputy Director of Karelian Military School.

Honorary titles were also appropriated to Karelian workers. Сoncertmaster of the Symphonic Orchestra of Karelian State Philarmonic Society Victor Perevoznikov became the Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation. The title of the Honoured Doctor of the Russian Federation was conferred on the head physician of the city polyclinic N5 Lubov Shoshina, the title of the Honoured Teacher of the Russian Federation was awarded to the teacher of Medvezhiegorsk secondary school N1 Olga Samarina.
