Zolotets

Zolotets - a village in the White Sea region of Karelia. It is the part of the White Sea urban settlement. The village got its name from the millions of golden spray, which formed in the fall of water with a powerful granite ledge on the lower Vyge.

It is located on the left bank of the river Vig, 7 km to the southwest of Belomorsk. In the Zolotets there are cultural center, a school, a library and a medical center.
 
Not far from the village is Vygostrovskaya hydroelectric power station. The construction  of it began in April 1959, and Commissioning of the first unit was held on 13 December 1961.
