Tourist Information Center of the Republic of Karelia

Tourist Information Center is a new form for providing tourism-related information and interacting with travel industry. Governmental institution "Tourist Information center of RK (TIC RK)" was established by the Government of RK. Financial and material contribution was provided by the Tacis project "Development of Cross-Border Tourism in the Russian Part of the Barents Euro-Arctic Region".

TIC performs its activities in cooperation with the Ministry of economical development ot the Republic of Karelia.

TIC objectives are the following:

• create a unified database on tourist potential of the RK;
• create a unified database on programs and projects in tourism sector in RK;
• information and consultancy support in the field of tourist activities;
• inter-institutional interaction;
• promote Karelian tourist products, elaborate a uniform trade-mark;
• establishing and maintaining contacts with the travel industry business.

TIC represents up-to-date Internet technologies, which offer potential tourists opportunities for obtaining comprehensive information on any interesting matters:

• places of interest, historical and cultural centers in RK;
• tourist firms of RK, their products and services including different types of tourism;
• basic tourist routes;
• leisure activities;
• latest tourist news in RK.

Clients are offered not only Internet information, but also printed materials such as maps, brochures, leaflets.

TIC possesses facilities for serving both Russian and foreign tourists.
